Position Overview
Reporting to the Manager of Security, the Security Guard will be responsible for:
- Prevention of theft and property vandalism
- Controlling access to the facility and restricted areas within
- Maintaining order and enforcing regulations within the facility
Requirements:
- Secondary school graduate or equivalent
- Graduate of a Law Enforcement Program from a recognized community college
- Current license with the Private Security and Investigation Act
- Minimum 3 years prior security experience
- Minimum 2 years recent experience with hospital security practices and procedures
- Police and Criminal Background check
- Thorough and complete knowledge of all hospital Emergency Codes
- Demonstrate compliance with and support of hospital and departmental directions and interpretation and compliance with hospital and departmental policy and procedures
- Ability to deal effectively with the general public
- Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills
- Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to handle stressful and delicate situations with tact and diplomacy
- Excellent communication, documentation, interpersonal and teamwork skills and demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public
- Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound judgement
- Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN’s comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area, including demonstrated understanding of Supervisor Health and Safety Awareness under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
- Exposure to LEAN principles, an understanding of methodologies and tools and commitment to the use of these in support of departmental operations and corporate objectives
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the position
