We’re looking for a Strategic HR Business Partner to join our established multi-disciplinary People HR Team and create a real impact by proactively contributing to the team to ensure that best practice HR solutions are designed, shared and delivered effectively. Your new role

The Strategic HR Business Partner is a key role reporting to the Head of People. We’re looking for you to bring your strategic and operational expertise and support us with complex HR casework around disputes, disciplinary and performance, health and redundancy issues. This role is available as a Full Time or Part Time opportunity.

You’ll be required to deliver a comprehensive and professional HR Advisory service through a proactive business partnering model working collaboratively with key stakeholders delivering direct services. This role will act as a senior adviser, providing expert advice and challenge on complex employee relations matters to manage risk to the organisation and maintain good employee relations.

What you’ll do

  • You’ll support the Head of People and collaborate across the wider team including learning, development, recruitment and reward to deliver our People Strategy whilst leading on governance and compliance for the team ensuring operational excellence across all HR policies and processes.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor and coach to senior leaders, you will shape and deliver initiatives across succession, organisational and workforce design, performance, and culture, helping to build an inclusive, high-performing environment.
  • Act as a point of contact for people managers for HR initiatives, providing support, guidance, and expert advice on how these are rolled out and become business as usual activities.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on complex / high-risk HR issues and cases.
  • Lead on writing, reviewing and implementing HR policies and practices ensuring they are modern, compliant, fair, and aligned with our values.
  • Drive compliance across the organisation by staying up to date with employment law and ensuring that company policies are applied consistently.
  • Support and advise on change management and restructure processes including redundancies and TUPE processes.
  • Interpret data across key HR metrics - including attrition, absence trends, performance, ER caseloads, and compensation movement - to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive organisational culture, championing diversity and employee wellbeing.

What you’ll bring

  • Educated to degree level or relevant experience.
  • CIPD Qualification or relevant experience.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of handling complex HR casework up to Employment Tribunal.
  • Significant experience managing disciplinary, performance, health, redundancy situations and TUPE regulations.
  • In-depth knowledge of current employment legislation and current best practice in HR.
  • Knowledge of TUPE transfer process.
  • An understanding of sustainability in the workplace and a commitment to support the business with its carbon reduction strategy.

Desirable

  • Project Management qualification.
  • Knowledge of payroll and pension management.
