Overview
Scantec are recruiting for a proactive Maintenance Engineer who can maximise production efficiency through effective inspection, maintenance and rapid resolution of equipment issues. You will play a key role in preventing unplanned downtime, maintaining factory services, and supporting continuous improvement across the site. Alongside hands-on engineering work, you will support and coach production teams, helping to improve equipment understanding, reliability and overall performance.
Responsibilities
- Proactively support all health, safety and quality initiatives across the site
- Communicate effectively with management, production and maintenance teams across all shifts
- Develop and support predictive and planned maintenance systems for production equipment
- Maintain safe, reliable and cost-effective factory utilities
- Improve factory efficiency through effective repair, maintenance and enhancement of plant and facilities
- Ensure accurate maintenance records and clear communication with your line manager
- Maintain strong technical knowledge through manuals, training and development
- Train, coach and motivate production teams to improve equipment knowledge and performance
- Maintain and develop maintenance resources, including stores, workshop, documentation and systems
- Regularly walk production lines, addressing defects immediately or scheduling repairs as appropriate
- Positively lead, challenge and promote a strong site culture
Skills & Technical Knowledge
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills

Minimum technical requirements
- Mechanical competency for electrical engineers
- IPAF Scissor Lift licence
- Basic welding skills
- PLC introductory knowledge
Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ Level 3 or recognised engineering apprenticeship in plant maintenance
- ONC in Engineering or demonstrable equivalent knowledge
- Good understanding of safety and environmental regulations
- Minimum 4 years' experience in an engineering environment or strong plant operational background
- Solid knowledge of factory plant, processes and equipment
