Senior EC&I Engineer (Electrical Bias) Location: Preston or Westlakes Working Model: Hybrid – 1- 2 office days per week, 3-4 days remote Type: Permanent, Full-Time Security Clearance: Candidates must be eligible to obtain SC clearance The Opportunity A leading engineering solutions provider is seeking a Senior EC&I Engineer with a strong electrical bias to support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of civil nuclear projects. This is a permanent staff position, offering long-term career progression, professional development, and flexibility in working arrangements. You will work across multiple frameworks, contributing to the design and delivery of electrical systems within highly regulated environments. The role involves supporting several concurrent projects and will require excellent attention to detail, a methodical approach to electrical design, and the ability to adapt across varied engineering scopes. The successful candidate will work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, providing high-quality electrical input across project phases. Office attendance is typically 1–2 days per week, with the remainder of the time worked remotely. Occasional travel to client sites will be required and may vary in frequency depending on project needs. Key Responsibilities Produce and review electrical designs, drawings, and documentation to support project requirements Interpret and assess wiring diagrams and technical specifications Provide electrical engineering support across all project stages, from concept through to commissioning Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure design compliance and integration Maintain awareness of industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements Candidate Profile Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Electrical or EC&I Engineering Proven experience in electrical design within a highly regulated industry, ideally nuclear or similar Strong ability to interpret and analyse wiring diagrams and electrical schematics Working knowledge of applicable design standards and regulatory frameworks Comfortable working across multiple projects simultaneously, with strong organisational and communication skills Recently promoted to, or ready to step into, a senior-level engineering role Must be eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC) Able to travel to client sites when required Interview Process The selection process includes a single-stage interview, which will involve a technical assessment focused on electrical design.
