The role is working for a leading consultancy, delivering on their water treatment and utilities frameworks. This is a senior, hands-on engineering role with real influence - leading projects, shaping design, and setting technical direction across complex water sector schemes.
The Principal EICA Engineer will take ownership of EICA delivery across a portfolio of projects. From concept through commissioning, they will balance technical excellence with commercial reality.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Producing cost-effective, compliant EICA design documentation
- Delivering outline and detailed electrical, instrumentation & control designs
- Leading site surveys, FATs, and producing clear technical reports
- Providing EC&I technical authority: preparation, checking, approval of documentation
- Managing sub-contractor designs to ensure specification and quality compliance
- Allocating work, guiding teams, and delivering against programme
- Preparing requisitions, installation scopes, and technical bid assessments
- Supporting HV design, site construction, and commissioning activities
- Ensuring compliance with UK legislation, standards, and client procedures
What You’ll Bring
Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Control Engineering (or similar)
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards)
- Apprenticeship routes considered with strong experience
Technical Experience
- 15+ years’ engineering experience in water or similar regulated sectors
- Strong knowledge of UK standards and legislation, including WIMES
- Experience with ATEX, CE marking, PED, LVD, Machinery Directive & EMC
- Understanding of hazardous areas and explosive atmospheres
- Solid grasp of risk management, HSE, and safe design principles
