We are working with a highly respected engineering and manufacturing organisation that is investing heavily in new product development and advanced technology. They are looking for a Senior Tooling Design Engineer to own design activities and deliver robust engineering solutions that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Design tooling, jigs, fixtures, and mechanical components to customer requirements
- Produce outline and detailed design concepts
- Identify and resolve engineering challenges with effective technical solutions
- Evaluate product performance, reliability, and safety
- Modify and refine designs to meet project and customer requirements
- Estimate project scope, budgets, and timelines
- Manage engineering risk and opportunity throughout the project lifecycle
- Prepare technical reports, calculations, and design documentation
- Support continuous improvement and development of new engineering methods
- Collaborate with internal teams and support junior engineers
What We Are Looking For
- Experience in a Senior Design Engineer or Mechanical Design Engineer role
- Strong background in valves, pressure vessels, structural design, tooling, or lifting equipment (or similar heavy engineering environments)
- Proven experience delivering mechanical engineering projects
- Good understanding of design codes, standards, and safety legislation
- Ability to manage full design project lifecycles (requirements, concept, detailed design)
- Strong knowledge of engineering materials
- Experience with 3D CAD (Siemens NX or similar)
- Experience using PLM systems (Teamcentre or similar)
- Familiarity with engineering analysis tools (MathCAD, ANSYS, ABAQUS or similar)
- Engineering degree (BEng or equivalent)
- SC Clearance or eligibility to obtain it
- Experience supporting or mentoring team members
