HSE Manager Chorley The Role: Lead and develop the organisation’s SHE culture, ensuring safety is embedded across all operations. Provide strategic oversight and direction to SHE functions across the business. Drive continuous improvement and go beyond compliance to elevate SHE performance. Serve as a trusted advisor to the Board, leadership teams, and wider business. Key Responsibilities SHE Strategy & Programme Development Set strategic direction for SHE activities aligned with business goals. Develop and continuously improve SHE programmes to ensure compliance and drive cultural change. Champion behavioural safety initiatives (e.g., Safety Observations, Toolbox Talks). Lead the development and evolution of Carbon Reduction Plans and other environmental initiatives. Empower teams to take ownership of health, safety, and environmental outcomes. Promote and manage proactive Risk Assessment & Mitigation strategy across all levels of the business Ensure Compliance Management with all Nuclear safety requirements and HSE legislation and standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001) Develop, implement and deliver HSE training plans, ensuring practices are understood and adopted Lead incident investigation processes (including near misses and environmental breaches) and ensure effective route cause analysis. Develop maintain and improve HSE policies and lead initiatives to improve emergency planning and business continuity procedure. Communicate SHE performance, risks, and opportunities to the Board and Senior Leadership Team as company’s point of contact. Monitor the effectiveness of SHE programmes and performance metrics, manage data, reporting and audits. (Board reports, ROSPA, ECOvadis) Provide leadership, direction, and coaching to the SHE team.
