Electrical Control & Instrumentation Engineer

Salary: £50000 - £55000 + on-call bonus + excellent benefits

We’re working with a well-established European manufacturer to recruit an Electrical Control & Instrumentation Engineer to join their growing engineering team in Selby. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced process environment, where you’ll be responsible for maintaining and operating key plant systems including CHP, boilers and water treatment. You’ll support the safe and efficient running of site utilities and production systems, ensuring plant reliability and performance is maintained at all times.

Alongside maintenance work, you’ll also be involved in plant operations, monitoring conditions and making adjustments to optimise performance and reduce costs.

  • Operate and monitor boilers, CHP (gas turbines) and water treatment systems
  • Adjust plant settings in line with production demands and process conditions
  • Liaise with production teams to manage steam and power requirements
  • Carry out planned, reactive and predictive electrical and instrumentation maintenance
  • Support installation and commissioning of new equipment
  • Carry out electrical isolations and support permit-to-work systems
  • Support HV operations (training provided if needed)

Requirements:

  • Time-served electrical or C&I apprenticeship, ideally within a process or heavy industry environment
  • HNC (or similar) in Electrical / Automation engineering would be beneficial
  • Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills across electrical and instrumentation systems
  • Experience working with plant such as CHP, boilers or utilities (or willingness to learn)
  • Good understanding of electrical schematics and installations

Working Conditions:

  • 40-hour week, Monday to Friday Days
  • On-call rota with paid week allowance
  • Overtime paid (Saturday x1.5, Sunday x2)
  • 33 days holiday (including bank holidays)
