The Buyer provides high-quality, timely procurement support aligned to processes and best practice, including sourcing, managing procurement schedules, supporting procurement strategies, and coordinating deliveries. The role supports successful project outcomes by ensuring alignment with project requirements, customer specifications and governance, while capturing and feeding back supplier performance to support central supply chain management. The Buyer plays a key role in delivering successful project outcomes as a directly chargeable role, providing effective procurement support throughout the project lifecycle, including ongoing supplier performance management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage procurement activities across multiple engineering projects.
- Prepare and issue RFQs/ITTs, ensuring technical and commercial requirements are captured.
- Evaluate supplier quotations and prepare tender recommendations.
- Place and manage purchase orders, ensuring contractual requirements are flowed down to suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance, expedite orders, and resolve delivery or supply issues.
- Maintain procurement schedules and provide regular updates to project teams.
- Support bid and tender activities through supplier engagement, pricing exercises, and market sourcing.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, governance requirements, and audit standards.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders across engineering, project management, and commercial teams.
About You
- Proven experience in sourcing, RFQ management, supplier negotiations, and procurement delivery.
- Background in project-based procurement within engineering, nuclear, defence, construction, manufacturing, or other highly regulated industries.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to interpret technical requirements.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience using procurement systems and Microsoft Office applications.
