Piping Designer – Water Industry (Revit)

Manchester – (Hybrid)

Contract – Outside of scope of IR35

Duration – 6 months

We’re looking for an experienced Piping Designer to support the design and coordination of complex water infrastructure projects. Working within a multi-disciplinary engineering team and reporting to the Principal Engineer, you’ll play a key role in delivering robust, constructible, and maintainable piping layouts using Revit in a 3D design environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in critical water industry projects, with a mix of office-based (Manchester) and remote.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Producing high-quality 3D models and general arrangement drawings (GAs) using Revit.
  • Designing layouts for wet and dry well pumping stations, concrete pump chambers, and ductile iron/epoxy-coated carbon steel pipework.
  • Integrating vendor packages into plant layouts and ensuring seamless design coordination.
  • Modelling access platforms, stairs, and handrails to meet client and industry standards.
  • Participating in Access, Lifting, and Maintenance (ALM) reviews.
  • Collaborating across civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines to ensure fully coordinated, clash-free models.
  • Managing drawing registers and ensuring compliance with documentation standards.

What We’re Looking For:

βœ… HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

βœ… Proven background as a Piping Designer in the water industry or similar sectors

βœ… Strong Revit skills (piping and basic structural layout)

βœ… Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Navisworks

βœ… Experience designing ductile iron/epoxy-coated carbon steel systems

βœ… Familiarity with P&IDs, vendor data, and equipment layouts

βœ… Understanding of pipe supports, plant layout, and operational access

βœ… Knowledge of industry codes, health & safety, and best practices

βœ… Clear communicator and confident working in a collaborative team environment

Additional Info:

  • Hybrid working – split between home and Manchester office
  • Workers may need to obtain a valid CSCS card if required on site
