The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer to join a highly respected engineering organisation supporting major projects within the UK nuclear sector. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced manufacturing professional to play a key role in driving process improvement, supporting production operations, and contributing to the delivery of complex engineering programmes. Working as part of an embedded manufacturing team on-site in Derby, you will collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to optimise manufacturing processes, improve operational performance, and ensure compliance with stringent industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse existing manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Design, develop, and implement new manufacturing methods, processes, tooling, and equipment.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to resolve production-related issues.
  • Develop and maintain quality control procedures to ensure compliance with customer and industry requirements.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, process evaluations, and cost-benefit analyses for new manufacturing solutions.
  • Monitor production performance data and implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reduce waste.
  • Support the introduction of new products and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with relevant nuclear industry regulations, safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Candidate Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Manufacturing Engineer position within the nuclear sector.
  • Strong understanding of nuclear safety regulations and quality requirements.
  • Proven experience in process improvement, manufacturing optimisation, and production support.
  • Knowledge and practical application of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience designing manufacturing processes, tooling, and production equipment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across engineering and production teams.
