The Role
We are looking for a solicitor/barrister with 2-5 years of post‑qualification experience, ideally having trained in private practice, with a specialism in commercial contracts. We are looking for a highly professional and personable individual to provide cross‑functional support to colleagues within Scania GB. This role offers direct exposure to the senior leadership team, offering a high‑quality and diverse remit of strategic legal matters.
You will act as a first point of contact for commercial legal queries, providing support directly to teams across the business, including sales, marketing, IT, operations, finance, internal compliance and people and culture.

Main Responsibilities
- Working primarily with our General Counsel (Head of Legal and Compliance) and commercial‑specialist Senior Legal Counsel, while also supporting with commercial aspects of matters led by Legal Counsel colleagues in the team with other specialisms.
- Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and providing ongoing support with contract queries, including supplier, customer, and IT agreements.
- Assisting or running strategic projects, depending on their origin and business owner.
- Supporting procurement and tendering processes, both as buyer and supplier.
- Advising on regulatory matters including data protection, competition law, anti‑bribery.
- Supporting with corporate governance and company secretarial matters.
- Collaborating with internal compliance colleagues to manage legal policies and processes.
- Working with and managing external counsel.
Key Competencies
- Lawyer or barrister qualified in England and Wales.
- Training gained in private practice is preferred.
- 2-5 years of post‑qualification experience gained in private practice or in‑house.
- Strong experience advising on commercial legal matters and complex contractual arrangements with excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong and collaborative relationships.
- Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise tasks appropriately.
- Strong commercial judgement, balancing legal risks against business priorities with high levels of integrity and professionalism.
