Associate Scientist, Oxford

The Associate Scientist will support Scancell’s clinical trials by conducting a variety of immunological assays in accordance with study protocols. These assays contribute to the key clinical trial endpoints that determine the effectiveness of Scancell’s novel vaccine therapies in patients with cancer.

This is a full-time, on-site laboratory-based position and the successful candidate will join the team located at the Company’s premises on the Oxford Science Park.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Receive and process clinical trial samples including human serum, blood and tumour samples.
  • Perform immunology-based assays on samples arriving from the clinical trials ensuring these are aligned with the clinical trial protocol. Such assays include T cell culture, ELISpot assay, TCR isolation, Lentivirus production, cytokine analysis, cell killing assays, flow cytometry (including cell sorting).
  • Maintain accurate records and present results in a report format.
  • Ability to work overtime to accommodate occasional late arrival of clinical trial samples.
  • Accurate recording of receipt, tracking and storage of clinical trial samples.
  • Perform stock checks of consumables, media, solutions and buffers.
  • Receive deliveries and unpack stock into laboratories.

Role requirements:

  • MSc or BSc with practical experience of working in a cell biology laboratory.
  • Capable of working independently as well as the flexibility to work effectively within a team.
  • Experience of growing and maintaining cell lines and preparing reagents when required.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel within the UK if required.
