Senior Assistant Accountant (Maternity Cover) Location Mallusk Contract Fixed Term Contract (15-18 Months) Reporting To Finance Director Salary £30,000 to £38,000 DOE plus pension, health insurance and death in service. About the Role Scan Alarms is a leading fire and security solutions provider operating throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. We are seeking an experienced Senior Assistant Accountant to provide maternity cover within our finance team. The successful candidate will take ownership of the month-end accounting process through to Trial Balance and ensure the timely preparation of accurate financial information. Working closely with the Finance Director, this role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working independently, has strong technical accounting skills, and takes pride in producing accurate and reliable financial data. This position does not include staff management responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Financial Accounting Maintain the general ledger and ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded. Process and review journals, accruals and prepayments. Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules. Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations. Manage bank reconciliations and cashbook postings. Reconcile supplier statements and oversee aged creditor balances. Monitor sales and purchase ledger integrity. Post payroll journals and reconcile payroll control accounts. Month-End Processes Prepare monthly accounts to Trial Balance stage. Produce supporting schedules for accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and balance sheet reconciliations. Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies. Ensure month-end deadlines are achieved consistently. Support year-end audit requirements and provide supporting documentation. Tax
