ScaleX Talent Solutions is working with an innovative engineering business at the forefront of industrial robotics and hazardous environment solutions, to appoint a Stores & Purchasing Coordinator.

The Opportunity
As Stores & Purchasing Coordinator, you'll take ownership of stock control, purchasing, inventory management, and stores operations across the business.
Working closely with manufacturing, workshop, and project teams, you'll play a key role in ensuring materials, components, tools, and consumables are available when needed, sourced competitively, and managed efficiently.
This is a hands-on role offering significant variety and the opportunity to make a genuine impact within a growing engineering and manufacturing environment.
What You'll Be Doing
β’ Managing day-to-day purchasing activities in line with company procedures
β’ Sourcing competitively priced materials, components, consumables, and equipment
β’ Raising purchase orders and maintaining accurate purchasing records
β’ Monitoring stock levels and maintaining re-order points to prevent shortages
β’ Managing goods-in processes and resolving delivery discrepancies
β’ Processing job orders, issuing stock to projects, and managing returns-to-stock activities
β’ Maintaining accurate inventory records and conducting regular stock counts
β’ Leading annual stock takes and supporting cycle count programmes
β’ Managing tools, equipment, and asset tracking systems
β’ Maintaining stores areas to ensure they remain organised, efficient, and compliant
β’ Preparing materials and equipment for workshop and project teams
β’ Supporting supplier management and monitoring supplier performance
β’ Producing reports on inventory levels, purchasing activity, equipment status, and stock accuracy
β’ Supporting logistics activities, local collections, and urgent site deliveries when required
What We're Looking For
Essential
β’ Previous experience in stores, inventory, stock control, purchasing, procurement, or materials management roles
β’ Experience working within manufacturing, engineering, industrial, production, warehouse, or similar operational environments
β’ Strong understanding of stock control processes and inventory accuracy
β’ Experience raising purchase orders and managing supplier relationships
β’ Confident using ERP, stock management, or inventory control systems
β’ Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
β’ Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
β’ Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
β’ Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
β’ Full UK driving licence
Desirable
β’ Experience within engineering, machinery manufacturing, fabrication, industrial services, or related sectors
β’ Experience using ERP or stock management systems within manufacturing environments
β’ Supplier performance management experience
β’ Lean Manufacturing or 5S knowledge
β’ Experience driving inventory reduction or cost-saving initiatives
β’ Logistics, materials handling, or warehouse operations experience
β’ Forklift licence
