  • Maghaberry | Full-time, Permanent

Are you highly organised, naturally detail-focused and always looking for a smarter or more efficient way to get things done?

We are recruiting a Procurement Assistant to join the busy procurement team of a successful and well-established business in Maghaberry.

This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys keeping things moving, takes genuine ownership of their work and loves improving processes and finding better ways of working.

You will support the day-to-day purchasing activity while also helping the team improve systems, processes and the flow of information across the business.

You do not need to be an experienced procurement specialist.

We are open to candidates from purchasing, administration, logistics, customer service or supply chain backgrounds who are organised, commercially aware and eager to learn.

The role

Working closely with the Group Procurement Manager, you will help ensure that purchasing activity runs smoothly, accurately and efficiently.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Raising, processing and monitoring purchase orders
  • Placing orders and ensuring all information is complete and accurate
  • Following up with suppliers regarding pricing, availability and delivery dates
  • Maintaining accurate purchasing records and updating internal systems
  • Managing information through the company’s supplier portal
  • Supporting HMRC-related administration and documentation requests
  • Liaising with sales teams, suppliers and colleagues across the wider business
  • Identifying missing information or potential issues before they cause delays
  • Reviewing existing processes and suggesting more efficient ways of working
  • Helping to improve how the team uses systems, data and Excel
  • Learning and confidently using the company’s AS400 system, with full training provided
  • What we’re looking for

You will be someone who takes pride in getting the detail right, follows things through and enjoys making processes work better.

Ideally, you will bring

  • Experience in purchasing, administration, logistics, customer service or another fast-paced environment
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • A genuine interest in process improvement and finding better ways of working
  • The confidence to question inefficient processes and suggest practical improvements
  • A proactive approach to following up and resolving queries
  • Confidence communicating with suppliers and internal teams
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook
  • The ability to manage several priorities without losing accuracy
  • A willingness to learn new systems and take ownership of your responsibilities
  • A dependable, collaborative and positive approach

Previous procurement experience or knowledge would be helpful, but it is not essential.

What matters most is that you learn quickly, work methodically and are always thinking about how things could be done more effectively.

Why join?

This is an opportunity to join a friendly and experienced procurement team within a stable and respected business.

You will receive plenty of support as you learn, while also being encouraged to contribute ideas and make a genuine impact on how the department operates.

The package includes

  • Competitive salary, depending on experience
  • 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Company pension
  • Life assurance
  • Cycle-to-work scheme
  • Employee retail and leisure discounts
  • Genuine opportunities for learning and career progression

If you are organised, curious and energised by improving how things work, we would love to hear from you.
