I’m currently supporting a leading UK cloud consultancy in the search for two Principal Consultants to join their growing Platform Engineering practice:
- 1 x AWS Principal Consultant
- 1 x Azure Principal Consultant
These are fully remote, permanent roles within a high-performing consultancy delivering complex cloud, DevOps, and platform transformations for enterprise clients.
The Opportunity
These are true Principal-level consultancy roles. They are looking for individuals who:
- Come from a strong consultancy background (this is essential)
- Have operated at Principal / Lead Architect level within client-facing environments
- Are comfortable advising CTO/CIO-level stakeholders
- Can define enterprise platform and DevOps strategy
- Shape cloud operating models, landing zones, and governance frameworks
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams across complex transformation programmes
This is not a pure engineering role; it requires commercial awareness, stakeholder influence, and the ability to shape and win work as well as deliver it.
What They’re Looking For
AWS Principal Consultant
- Deep expertise in AWS platform architecture
- Strong background in Terraform/OpenTofu and policy-as-code
- Experience designing CI/CD and GitOps workflows
- Knowledge of EKS/ECS, serverless architectures, and observability tooling
- Experience shaping multi-account AWS landing zones
Azure Principal Consultant
- Deep expertise in Azure platform architecture
- Strong experience with Terraform/Bicep and Azure landing zones
- CI/CD design using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
- Experience with AKS, Azure Functions, and enterprise governance
- Strong understanding of identity, networking, and security in Azure
For both roles:
- Proven experience in a consultancy environment (non-negotiable)
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including board-level exposure
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and architects
- Commercially aware, outcome-focused mindset
Why This Consultancy?
- Fully remote working across the UK
- Engineering-led culture with strong technical standards
- Complex, enterprise-scale cloud transformation work
- Opportunity to influence practice direction and technical standards
- Consultancy focused on quality over scale
If you’re currently operating in a consultancy at Lead Architect or Principal level and want to step into a role with greater strategic influence, I’d be keen to speak. Apply now online for a confidential discussion.
