Scalby Academy are looking to appoint an Education Welfare Officer to join our academy in September 2026 on a permanent, full time basis. Your new role

As an Education Welfare Officer (EWO), you will provide a service for students and their families. You will ensure, with others, that students receive education appropriate to their needs by regular attendance at the academy, assisting them to obtain maximum benefit from their education and be involved in the development of the service and staff.

Hours: 37 hours per week / Term Time only plus 10 days (40 weeks)

Scalby Academy is a successful and popular 11-16 community school based in picturesque seaside town of Scarborough on the North Yorkshire Coast. We currently have approximately 1000 students on roll. In recent years we have become the school of choice in our local community. Our P8 score in 2024 placed us in the top 14% of schools nationally again. Our students are diverse, exciting and talented - and the same is true of our staff. We put huge emphasis on professional development, most of it in-house, and are proud of the highly effective teaching, which characterises our school. We are also noted for our ‘can do’ attitude.
