Join a dynamic Fintech company in London, navigating through a transformative phase. Our product, currently in production, faces significant challenges and opportunities for growth. We are seeking a seasoned Scala Tech Lead to steer the team through this critical juncture.
Role Overview: As a Scala Tech Lead, you will play a crucial leadership role, guiding a talented team of three engineers, including yourself. You will collaborate closely with passionate developers and product owners. Your primary focus will be on making strategic technical decisions to address existing technical debt and refine the current product's design. By driving the team towards more robust and scalable solutions, you will help shape the future of our technology stack and ensure the continued success and growth of our product.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
- Navigate complex team dynamics, confidently handling strong opinions and personalities.
- Manage technical debt and address fundamental design issues in the product.
- Establish clear communication channels with project stakeholders and negotiate realistic deadlines.
- Drive the transition away from Kafka Streams to more suitable technologies, with a preference for ZIO or Cats.
- Provide technical leadership and contribute to the strategic direction of the product.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Tech Lead in at least one previous role.
- Strong proficiency in Scala, with significant experience in ZIO or Cats.
- Demonstrated ability to manage technical debt and address design flaws in production systems.
- Excellent leadership skills, with experience in handling strong personalities and establishing boundaries.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage deadlines effectively.
- While domain experience in Fintech is not essential, a quick adaptability to new domains is crucial.
- Bonus: Prior management experience.
