The role involves managing the cost-effective purchase and supply of procured goods and sub-contractor services relating to groundworks, enabling works, soil stabilization, landscaping, irrigation, and utility supplies. You will identify and assess new suppliers and build strong relationships with key partners, ensuring every project reaches completion to the market leading standards S&C Slatter is known for and improving the provision of sport nationwide.
This role is ideal for an established surveyor with the ability to operate independently at a senior level and the desire to progress their career. You’ll bring excellent communication and negotiation skills, detailed knowledge of supply chain management, the ability to mitigate risk and solve problems, and a keen eye for detail.

For 35 years we’ve been a trusted partner to schools, universities, councils, sports clubs and major organisations nationwide — delivering first-class facilities for clients ranging from Everton FC to Eton College to Harwell Science Campus and The Hurst School in Tadley. We design, build and maintain sports pitches, courts, tracks and multi-use games areas, all independently tested to meet or exceed the standards of FIFA, the FA, World Rugby, the LTA and other governing bodies of sport. Our in-house Professional Services team supports clients at every stage, from feasibility and funding through to design, planning and project handover, helping turn ambitious ideas into successful, buildable projects. What you’ll be doing:
- Managing procurement strategy and delivery across multiple projects, ensuring certainty of supply, value for money and programme alignment.
- Developing strategic supplier relationships, negotiating commercial terms, pricing structures and framework agreements to deliver long-term value.
- Initiating group-wide and multi-project procurement initiatives, including volume-based agreements and rebate structures, working collaboratively with our sister company White Horse Contractors.
- Overseeing supplier performance, compliance and risk management, ensuring all procurement activity meets legal, social, and environmental standards.
- Providing commercial input into pre-construction and tender stages, supporting estimators with market intelligence, cost planning and value optimisation.
- Attending key meetings, and maintaining communications, with delivery team(s) to confirm requirements and schedules.
- Monitoring procurement spends against project budgets, identifying and delivering cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or performance.
- Resolving supplier, contractual and supply-chain issues to protect programme certainty and commercial outcomes.
- Leading continuous improvement of procurement processes and terms, using market insight to enhance resilience, efficiency and optimisation.
- Authorising major subcontractor valuations and procurement-related financial approvals in line with delegated authority.
- Attending industry events and analysing market trends, using insight to drive efficiency.
- Overseeing, supporting, and training junior procurement staff.
