Join an established, ambitious, and growing leader in sports construction. Ongoing organic growth has created an opportunity for a motivated surveyor to join our Procurement team and play a key part in helping us deliver high-quality sports facilities across the UK. If you enjoy building partnerships, have a deep understanding of supply chain management, and thrive in a fast-paced setting, this could be the perfect next step in your career.

The role involves managing the cost-effective purchase and supply of procured goods and sub-contractor services relating to groundworks, enabling works, soil stabilisation, landscaping, irrigation, and utility supplies. You will identify and assess new suppliers and build strong relationships with key partners, ensuring every project reaches completion to the market-leading standards S&C Slatter is known for and improving the provision of sport nationwide.

This role is ideal for an established surveyor with the ability to operate independently at a senior level and the desire to progress their career. You will bring excellent communication and negotiation skills, detailed knowledge of supply chain management, the ability to mitigate risk and solve problems, and a keen eye for detail.

About S&C Slatter: We are specialists in sports construction, placemaking and professional services. For 35 years we have been a trusted partner to schools, universities, councils, sports clubs and major organisations nationwide — delivering first-class facilities for clients ranging from Everton FC to Eton College to Harwell Science Campus and The Hurst School in Tadley. We design, build and maintain sports pitches, courts, tracks and multi-use games areas, all independently tested to meet or exceed the standards of FIFA, the FA, World Rugby, the LTA and other governing bodies of sport.

Our in-house Professional Services team supports clients at every stage, from feasibility and funding through to design, planning and project handover, helping turn ambitious ideas into successful, buildable projects. Guided by our strapline 'constructed with integrity', we operate safely, responsibly and ethically — underpinning our reputation for quality, expertise and long-term value.

What you will be doing:

  • Managing procurement strategy and delivery across multiple projects, ensuring certainty of supply, value for money and programme alignment.
  • Developing strategic supplier relationships, negotiating commercial terms, pricing structures and framework agreements to deliver long-term value.
  • Initiating group-wide and multi-project procurement initiatives, including volume-based agreements and rebate structures, working collaboratively with our sister company White Horse Contractors.
  • Overseeing supplier performance, compliance and risk management, ensuring all procurement activity meets legal, social, and environmental standards.
  • Providing commercial input into pre-construction and tender stages, supporting estimators with market intelligence, cost planning and value optimisation.
  • Attending key meetings, and maintaining communications, with delivery team(s) to confirm requirements and schedules.
  • Monitoring procurement spends against project budgets, identifying and delivering cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or performance.
  • Resolving supplier, contractual and supply-chain issues to protect programme certainty and commercial outcomes.
  • Leading continuous improvement of procurement processes and terms, using market insight to enhance resilience, efficiency and optimisation.
  • Authorising major subcontractor valuations and procurement-related financial approvals in line with delegated authority.
  • Attending industry events and analysing market trends, using insight to drive efficiency.
  • Overseeing, supporting, and training junior procurement staff.

What you will bring:

  • Strong commercial, negotiation and relationship-management skills, with the ability to influence senior suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Advanced analytical and financial capability, including confident use of procurement, costing and reporting software.
  • Deep understanding of supply-chain management, logistics, market dynamics and supplier performance.
  • Proven ability to identify, manage and mitigate supply-chain and commercial risk.
  • High standards of quality, governance and compliance, with strong attention to detail.
  • Sound knowledge of ethical procurement and sustainability principles.
  • Confident problem-solver, able to make robust commercial decisions in complex or time-pressured situations.

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Discretionary bonus
  • Company pension scheme
  • Car Allowance
  • Flexible working options for experienced candidates
  • A friendly, supportive team within a respected and growing business
