Function: Community & Corporate Affairs (Communications)

About the role: This role is a maternity cover Fixed Term Contract. We do not support international relocation for this role. You will be responsible for leading, partnering and coaching (EMEA) regional community leaders on the strategic direction of SCJ to advance and build coalitions needed to strengthen the community in order to effectively support the company’s business needs with an emphasis on our core strategic giving pillars. Supports global, regional, and local initiatives through the engagement of the Company, its leadership, assist in direct company charitable giving, and corporate and employee resources while enhancing and protecting the corporate reputation. You will also work with the Senior Director of Global Community Affairs to develop strategies.

About the Team/Department: This role independently sits in the UK covering EMEA for our Global Corporate Brands as well as supporting our European Lifestyle brands and SCJ Professional business. The manager for this role sits in the US.

Responsibilities:

  • Corporate Charitable Giving: Evaluates all proposals for support within core giving pillars to determine suitability for corporate support. This includes determining the capacity and capability of the requesting organization to successfully deliver the program or initiative for which it is seeking funding, the relative importance of the initiative to the community, and the strategic fit of the organization and/or its program or initiative within the Company’s community strategic framework.
  • Oversee the formation of local employee engagement committees within the regions/business units in which SCJ operates. Schedule and lead employee engagement committees in evaluating funding requests and making funding determinations.
  • Corporate Volunteerism Program: Assists in developing, implementing and managing a cost-effective corporate volunteer program that connects interested SCJ employees with volunteer opportunities.
  • Represent the Company at Community Events: As appropriate, ensures that the company is adequately represented at community events in the corporate areas of focus. In some cases, this will include serving as the corporate representative at internal/external meetings or events.
