Role Overview: My client are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer with expertise in avionics systems and clearance activities to join our customer’s team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on cutting-edge qualification and certification activities for key avionics systems, specifically for military aircraft. The role involves working onsite at the customer location for 4 days per week, assisting with qualification and certification processes for avionics subsystems on the Typhoon platform (or similar military aircraft).
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with Qualification & Certification activities for avionics system updates and design changes.
- Work closely with test, integration, and support teams to ensure the release of new capability in line with programme demands.
- Manage and track Clearance baselines across complex product variants.
- Generate Airworthiness and Flight Clearance documentation in accordance with programme requirements.
- Collaborate with Avionics teams to plan and gather qualification & certification inputs, including from SIL rig testing and flight trials.
- Assess the Qualification & Certification evidence, identify any shortfalls, and evaluate their impact.
- Liaise with internal and external teams (including Qual & Cert / Airworthiness) to secure independent assessment and approval of clearances.
- Present Certification evidence for formal sign-off and ensure traceability of clearance evidence.
- Contribute to programme reviews as required.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Recent experience with military or civil aircraft qualification & certification processes, including Typhoon or similar military aircraft platforms.
- In-depth knowledge of Eurofighter QAPs, UK MAA certification processes (MACP / RA), and EASA civil certification processes (CS-25).
- Proven ability to identify and resolve safety issues and work with appropriate teams.
- Experience working with JIRA and agile project management tools.
- Ability to identify dependencies, track progress, and manage complex engineering tasks.
- Strong understanding of Qualification & Certification processes across the full engineering lifecycle.
- Previous experience in managing Clearance baselines and supporting certification teams.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience in military aircraft avionics qualification and certification, ideally within the Typhoon platform.
- Candidates with experience in civil aircraft sector avionics certification will also be considered.
- A proactive individual with excellent communication skills, able to work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure clearances are achieved on time.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively, with strong attention to detail.
