The Role
- Source and purchase engineered components, raw materials, tooling and technical services.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications and Bills of Materials to ensure accurate procurement.
- Obtain and negotiate supplier quotations to achieve the best value, quality and delivery.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while monitoring performance.
- Work closely with Engineering, Production and Quality teams to meet project requirements.
- Liaise with group companies to secure volume pricing and maximise purchasing efficiencies.
- Maintain accurate purchasing data including pricing, lead times and supplier performance.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through supplier development and alternative sourcing.
- Resolve supply chain issues including delivery delays, quality concerns and specification queries.
- Support new product introduction by sourcing prototype components and materials.
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with company procedures and industry standards.
- Monitor stock levels and manage procurement of long lead-time items.
About You
- Previous experience in an Engineering Buyer or Technical Buyer position within manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of engineering components, manufacturing processes and supply chains.
- Confident reading engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Experienced in supplier negotiation and relationship management.
- Familiar with ERP/MRP systems and purchasing software.
- Strong commercial awareness with excellent analytical skills.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to details.
