We are recruiting for an experienced Personal Assistant to provide dedicated one-to-one support to a Managing Director within a successful engineering and manufacturing business based in Laindon. This is a key position for a highly organised, proactive, and professional individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You will become a trusted right-hand to the Managing Director, ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day business activities while handling highly confidential information with discretion.

The company specialises in the design and manufacture of bespoke filling and packaging machinery, supplying customers across a range of industries including pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and manufacturing. This is a fully office-based role, working Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide confidential, one-to-one support to the Managing Director.
  • Manage a busy and ever-changing diary, prioritising meetings and resolving scheduling conflicts.
  • Organise meetings, prepare agendas, presentations and supporting documentation.
  • Manage emails, correspondence and follow-up actions on behalf of the Managing Director.
  • Arrange UK and international travel, accommodation and detailed itineraries.
  • Prepare, format and proofread reports, presentations and business documents.
  • Act as a professional point of contact for customers, suppliers and internal departments.
  • Attend meetings where required, producing accurate minutes and tracking actions.
  • Coordinate corporate events, exhibitions, conferences and business functions.
  • Organise hospitality, refreshments and meeting facilities.
  • Process expense claims accurately and within deadlines.
  • Maintain an organised and professional working environment.
  • Support a positive, collaborative culture across the business.

About You

We are looking for someone who can confidently manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail. You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a Personal Assistant or Executive Assistant supporting senior leadership.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High levels of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality.
  • The ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience arranging travel, meetings and corporate events.
  • Confident communication skills when dealing with senior stakeholders, customers and suppliers.
  • Typing speed of approximately 40-60 words per minute.
