We are working with a well-established and growing engineering manufacturer based near Huddersfield, delivering specialist equipment and solutions into highly regulated and technical industries. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Controls Engineer to support the development of advanced control systems across their product range.
The Role
As a Controls Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, programming, and development of control systems for bespoke engineered solutions. Key responsibilities include:
- PLC programming and development (from scratch and modification)
- Design and implementation of control systems for specialist equipment
- Commissioning and testing of systems (on-site and occasionally at customer sites)
- Working closely with mechanical and electrical design teams
- Supporting continuous improvement and innovation in control strategies
- Troubleshooting and fault-finding on existing systems
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in PLC programming (e.g. Siemens, Allen Bradley, or similar)
- Background in controls system design and development
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
- Experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid role (office + remote)
Desirable
- HMI/SCADA experience
- Knowledge of automation systems or special purpose machinery
- Experience with commissioning
- Experience working within regulated or high-spec environments
