Due to continued growth and expansion, an established engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join their Mechanical Handling division based in Barnsley. This is a key leadership role, responsible for delivering complex, multidisciplinary turnkey engineering projects from tender through to commissioning.

The Role

As Mechanical Project Manager, you will take full ownership of high-value engineering projects, leading cross‑functional teams to ensure successful delivery on time, within budget, and to specification. You will play a critical role in both the tendering and execution phases, working closely with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to deliver technically complex mechanical handling solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage complex, multidisciplinary engineering projects from tender stage through to commissioning
  • Lead project planning, coordination, and execution to meet programme, budget, and quality targets
  • Support and contribute to the preparation of estimates, tenders, and technical specifications
  • Manage and coordinate internal engineering teams and external suppliers
  • Act as the key point of contact for clients, ensuring strong relationships and clear communication
  • Ensure compliance with contractual, statutory, and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor project performance and drive continuous improvement
