An established automation and special purpose machinery company based in Haslingden is looking to recruit a Software Controls Engineer with strong Siemens TIA Portal experience to support the design, development, and commissioning of bespoke automated machinery. This role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging special purpose machinery projects, with involvement from initial software design through to commissioning.

The Role:

  • Design, develop, and maintain PLC software primarily using Siemens TIA Portal
  • Develop and modify HMI systems (WinCC)
  • Support machine testing, debugging, and fault finding
  • Assist with site commissioning and customer support as required
  • Work closely with mechanical and electrical design teams to deliver complete automation solutions

Skills & Experience:

  • Background in software or controls engineering within automation or special purpose machinery
  • Strong experience with Siemens TIA Portal
  • Experience with Siemens PLCs such as S7-1200 and S7-1500
  • HMI development experience, WinCC preferred
  • Willingness to support commissioning and on-site testing
