Location: Gloucester (site-based with some travel).
Salary: £40,000-£60,000 (DOE).
The role: You will act as the key point of contact for customers and suppliers, coordinating internal teams across design, manufacturing, procurement and installation/commissioning. You will drive progress through structured planning, regular reviews, and strong technical oversight.
Key responsibilities:
- Take direct control and full responsibility for the performance of assigned projects.
- Review and understand customer contracts, orders and technical specifications.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers and suppliers, acting as the primary project contact.
- Provide guidance and support to cross-functional teams including Design, Manufacturing, Procurement and Installation/Commissioning.
- Liaise closely with the design team to provide direction and technical input where required.
- Convene and chair internal project review meetings to track progress, risks and actions.
- Attend customer sites for review meetings and design survey requirements.
- Attend supplier sites for Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) when required.
- Maintain full financial control of project-related activity to maximise profitability and ensure accountability.
- Support the accounts function with project financial reporting.
- Work closely with Sales/Proposals to ensure accurate handover and completion of information on new projects.
- Produce detailed project plans and support internal planning meetings as required.
- Provide technical guidance and support to Sales and Marketing.
- Promote and enforce strict health & safety working practices at all times.
- Take responsibility for CE activity including preparation, authorisation and distribution of CE documentation/manuals in line with current legislation.
- Ensure equipment and systems conform to current legislation and meet customer specifications.
- Support the preparation of design risk assessments, method statements and site risk assessments.
About you:
- Proven experience delivering engineering projects (ideally in machinery, automation, manufacturing or similar environments).
- Strong commercial awareness with confidence managing project budgets and reporting.
- Strong communication skills with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Highly organised, methodical, and comfortable leading meetings.
- Good understanding of health & safety and a safety-first mindset.
- Willing to travel to customer and supplier sites as required.
