Are you an experienced Gas Turbine Systems Engineer looking for your next long-term contract?

We're recruiting for an exciting 12-month Outside IR35 opportunity based in Derby, working on the development of next-generation aero gas turbine technology.

You'll join a highly skilled engineering team delivering complex, safety-critical projects for one of the world's leading engineering environments.

This role is fully site-based and offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge gas turbine systems from concept through to integration.

Please note: Due to the nature of the work, applicants must be British Citizens or hold a British Passport and be eligible to obtain Security Clearance (SC).

The Role

As a Gas Turbine Design Engineer, you'll lead System Design & Integration (SDI) activities for the hot section of advanced aero gas turbine programmes.

Acting as the link between technical teams, work package owners and key engineering stakeholders, you'll ensure systems are designed, integrated and delivered to the highest technical standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver System Design & Integration (SDI) activities for aero gas turbine hot section programmes.
  • Capture, manage and maintain engineering requirements using DOORS.
  • Produce Sub-System Requirements Documents (SSRDs).
  • Develop Interface Definition Documents (IDDs).
  • Create and manage Interface Management Plans (IMPs) and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Define and manage interfaces across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Work closely with engineering teams and stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support the definition of engineering workflows, system requirements and integration processes.
  • Provide technical analysis and engineering guidance for new and emerging gas turbine technologies.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet programme objectives, quality standards and timescales.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience as a Systems Engineer within a safety-critical engineering environment.
  • Aero gas turbine experience is essential.
  • Strong understanding of gas turbine design, manufacture and operation.
  • Experience using DOORS for requirements management.
  • Systems engineering and process modelling experience.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • British Citizen or British Passport holder, eligible for SC Clearance.

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge of gas turbine product development.
  • Experience working within highly regulated engineering environments.
  • Understanding of Functional Safety principles.
  • Experience with FMECA or similar safety and reliability analysis tools
