A well-established engineering business delivering large-scale turnkey solutions across sectors including quarrying, aggregates, recycling, bulk handling and transport infrastructure. The company designs, builds and maintains electrical and mechanical systems that support safe, efficient and sustainable industrial production.
This is a hands-on electrical design role offering real project exposure and responsibility. You will work closely with senior engineers, project teams and site teams to support projects from concept through to detailed design, construction and commissioning. Based in the Coventry office, this role provides excellent opportunity for learning and development while contributing to major industrial and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities- Produce electrical designs for large industrial and infrastructure projects
- Create drawings for HV and LV power supplies, main distribution boards, MCCs, control panels, schematics and layouts
- Develop key design deliverables including load lists, cable block diagrams, containment layouts, equipment lists and bills of materials
- Prepare flow diagrams, P&IDs, transformer sizing calculations and cable schedules
- Carry out earthing and lightning protection design inputs and associated calculations
- Use Trimble Amtech for cable calculations and Dialux for lighting and emergency lighting design
- Prepare purchase specifications for control panels and electrical installations
- Review subcontractor designs and ensure integration into overall plant packages
- Provide technical support to installation teams during build and commissioning phases
- Gain exposure to PLC platforms and control architectures to ensure smooth integration with controls and automation systems
- Contribute to improving design standards, processes and quality across the engineering team
This role is primarily office-based in Coventry but will involve occasional site visits for surveys, panel testing and commissioning support. Overnight stays may occasionally be required.
Requirements- Degree, HND or equivalent practical experience in Electrical Engineering
- Experience in electrical design within an industrial or engineering environment
- Ability to produce clear drawings, schedules and calculations for installation teams
- Experience using AutoCAD Electrical
- Exposure to Trimble Amtech and Dialux (training available if required)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good working knowledge of BS 7671 (18th Edition) and awareness of lighting, emergency lighting and lightning protection standards
- Experience working in heavy industry such as quarrying, aggregates, recycling or bulk handling
- Experience with Revit
- LV distribution systems design experience
- Exposure to renewable energy feasibility or electrical design
- Interest in automation and integration with PLC and SCADA systems
