We’re looking for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join a project team working on automation and robotic machinery for a major industrial installation.

This is a 6-month contract, Outside IR35, offering long hours and solid continuity for the right contractor. The role is fully site-based in Wolverhampton and will require regular on-site presence throughout the contract.

The Role

  • Commissioning of automated and robotic systems on-site
  • PLC commissioning and software development using Siemens TIA Portal
  • Fault finding, testing, and system optimisation during commissioning phases
  • Working closely with mechanical, electrical, and controls teams
  • Supporting site acceptance testing and handover

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience commissioning automation and robotic machinery
  • Strong PLC experience with Siemens TIA Portal
  • Comfortable with both commissioning and software modifications/development
  • Able to work independently on-site and hit commissioning deadlines
  • Industrial automation background (material handling, robotics, special purpose machinery, etc.)

  • Rate: £45–50 per hour
  • Hours: 50 hours per week
  • Start: ASAP / short notice preferred
