Responsibilities

  • Verify and audit treasury registers and validate cash on hand figures carried on the reconciliation balance.
  • Review GL from Cash Centre or bank to validate that GL figures carried on the reconciliation are in a balance position.
  • Maintain proper record keeping for remote and on-site cash account audits.
  • Perform random audits on all applicable accounts, provide audit reports with source documentation on risks identified to the recon specialist to review and send to the cash centre and general managers.
  • Follow up with the cash centre managers on the resolution of findings as per the audit reports and elevate where necessary.
  • Subscribe and align to SBV Services' ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Standards, ensuring the department's processes and quality management system is at all times in compliance with the standard.
  • Support SBVs ESG journey, reporting on and managing the ESG requirements to ensure a positive reflection and outcome.
  • Coordinate and support the cash centres on the balancing of products or services of SBV.
  • Acquire relevant source documentation and support all centres with reconciliation queries.
  • Reconcile daily automated reconciliations and balance GL accounts to zero.
  • Compile and submit “Certificate of Balance” in accordance with the Delegation of Authority.
  • Adjust all floats and settlements accordingly through the checking of Cash Centre data.
  • Compare daily Settlements with Centre balancing to mitigate any incorrect Settlements.
  • Escalate any Settlement issues immediately to Management.
  • Reconcile and elevate all centre GL's when recons are out of balance, both on and offsite.
  • Follow-up with centres regarding outstanding items older than 3 days and support in terms of resolving these items.
  • Identify and elevate non-compliance of SOPs at centre level and provide support and guidance through daily telecoms.
  • Review centre recons daily to verify compliance and minimise risk.
  • Provide daily reporting to the relevant stakeholders regarding the status of balances per centre.
  • Provide guidance to Recon & Balancing Assistants in resolving operational reconciliation queries.

New Projects

  • Assist and provide feedback to the relevant stakeholders on new projects from a reconciliation perspective, including new cash centres and reconciliation of cash accounts as and when required.

Cash on Hand Checks

  • Validate that all Cash on hand certificates balance according to the GL accounts daily and elevate to the Balancing & Recon Specialist if not in a balancing position.
  • Perform weekly Cash on hand checks on all accounts and verify that all supporting documents are correct and in a balancing position.
  • Verify that monthly cash on hand checks from the centres are signed off by Centre managers and is in a balancing position.

Customer Support

  • Analyse and resolve customer queries within the agreed timeframes (SLA) and provide feedback to the Customer Liaison Officer.
  • Escalate complex matters to the relevant manager.
  • Provide ongoing support to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Drive the department's values while inspiring confidence and generating excitement, enthusiasm and commitment towards the mission.
  • Act as a change management architect in periods of change to ensure business continuity.
  • Manage the integration of business units into a seamless end to end solution for customers.
  • Effectively communicate and embed new processes and procedures as they occur, addressing or escalating matters/ concerns to the SMEs (subject matter experts) when required.
  • Facilitate the necessary presentations, workshops, or forums to ensure consistent and accurate communication is given across one’s portfolio.

Requirements

  • Minimum Requirements: Work Experience
  • 5 Years' experience within balancing and recon of which 2 years' experience in an accounting role.
  • Experience within a cash centre/bank: Advantageous.
  • Minimum Requirements: Education
    • Grade 12 (Matric) with Accounting and Mathematics.
    • Diploma/Degree in Financial or Business Management qualification: Advantageous.
  • Functional Competencies Required
