Help us design secure, modern technology that our members can trust. We’re looking for a Solutions Architect with a passion for security to help shape the future of technology at Skipton. This isn’t a traditional “security gatekeeper” role. You’ll work as a core Solutions Architect first, designing end‑to‑end solutions across a complex technology landscape—while bringing deeper expertise in security to ensure everything we build is secure, resilient, and trusted by design. You’ll play a key role in helping us modernise our platforms, simplify our architecture, and embed security into how we deliver technology—not bolt it on afterwards.

We work in a hybrid way, balancing flexibility with collaboration. For this role, you’ll typically spend three days a week in our Skipton office, with the remaining two days working from home.

What You’ll Do

  • Design end‑to‑end technology solutions aligned to enterprise architecture, strategy, and target‑state capabilities
  • Partner with product owners, delivery leads, and engineering teams to turn complex requirements into clear, actionable designs
  • Guide and influence technical decisions, balancing short‑term delivery with long‑term sustainability
  • Provide architectural governance and assurance across the delivery lifecycle
  • Identify risks, trade‑offs, and opportunities to improve simplicity, reuse, and coherence
  • Champion modern architecture approaches, including API‑led integration, cloud‑native design, and reusable platforms

What You’ll Need

  • Strong solution architecture expertise with experience designing and delivering enterprise‑scale technology solutions
  • Security‑minded approach, embedding security principles throughout solution design and delivery
  • Knowledge of security controls across identity, data, cloud and modern technology environments
  • Experience designing resilient, scalable architectures that balance risk, usability and delivery outcomes
  • Familiarity with modern architecture practices including APIs, cloud‑native solutions, DevSecOps and Zero Trust
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across business, technology, engineering and risk stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, able to explain complex concepts and support decision‑making at all levels

What’s In It For You

  • Annual discretionary bonus scheme
  • 25 days standard annual leave plus bank holidays, with an additional day per year of service up to a maximum of 30 days
  • Matching employer pension contribution (up to 10% per annum)
  • Colleague mortgages and access to Skipton products and services at discounted rates
  • Flexible working to help balance your commitments
  • Private medical insurance, health and wellbeing app, volunteering opportunities, cycle‑to‑work scheme, and discounted gym memberships
  • Lifestyle perks such as a Home and Tech voucher, which can be used at John Lewis, Currys, and IKEA
