Overview

Shifts are based on department opening hours: 8am–6pm (Mon–Thu), 8:30am–5:30pm (Friday), and 9am–12pm (Saturday on rotation, once a month).

A minimum of 3 days per week must be worked from Head Office, dependent on competence and business requirements.

The salary range for the role is £30,000–£33,400 PA, dependent on skills and experience.

The role requires full-time onsite work for the first 2 months of training.

  • What You’ll Do
  • Work with the Credit Management team to help members navigate financial challenges with empathy and practical solutions.
  • Handle inbound and outbound calls with a wide range of customers who may be struggling to make payments, and identify customers with vulnerabilities to provide the right support.
  • Assess affordability and offer appropriate solutions, including referrals to external support agencies as needed.
  • Accurately and promptly process mortgage arrears administration, including taking payments and managing direct debit arrangements.
  • Manage the delivery of litigation and repossession actions through the courts, ensuring actions are appropriate and liaising with solicitors when required.
  • Communicate with empathy when discussing customers’ situations while securing the right outcome for both the customer and the Society.
  • As a more experienced adviser, act as an escalation point for colleagues and maintain multi-skills across all mortgage types, dealing with complex accounts.
  • Manage the end-to-end arrears journey with a full understanding of litigation, receivership, and debt recovery.
  • What You’ll Need
  • Mortgage knowledge is helpful but not essential; related credit/debt management experience is a strong fit.
  • Experience with vulnerable customers and supporting customers experiencing financial difficulty.
  • Customer-obsessed mindset with a focus on providing a supportive environment where customers are listened to and have a positive experience.
  • Proactive and resilient, able to support members in challenging circumstances.
  • Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments, adapting to various customer needs.
  • Strong communication and listening skills; able to explain complex information simply.
  • Ability to liaise with different stakeholders across the business and externally.
