In this role you will advise the business on employment law and manage tribunal matters as the HR team's principal legal expert. You will shape the employee relations strategy, develop compliant policies, and help mitigate legal risk in a fast-paced environment. You will represent the company at employment tribunals and guide senior management on complex matters. Key responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the employee relations strategy aligned with company objectives
  • Act as trusted legal advisor to senior management on employment law matters
  • Represent the business at employment tribunals as principal advocate when required
  • Prepare and present tribunal cases, gather evidence, draft submissions, coordinate witnesses
  • Manage employment tribunal claims in partnership with HR, communicating the company position
  • Oversee grievances, disciplinaries, and workplace disputes ensuring fair, legal outcomes
  • Advise on tribunal outcomes and implement lessons learned to mitigate future risks
  • Liaise with external legal advisors, prepare instructions and manage external support
  • Lead development and continuous improvement of employment policies and procedures in line with UK law
  • Ensure policies are consistently applied and stay updated with legislation
  • Advise on TUPE and manage employee transfers

Key requirements

  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales
  • Minimum 2 years PQE in employment law
  • Experience in regional, national, or international law firm or in-house legal role
  • Experience representing employers at tribunals as principal advocate
  • Strong knowledge of TUPE regulations and employee transfers
