The Central Operations & Planning Apprentice supports the day-to-day planning and coordination of SBFM's nationwide field operation while completing a structured apprenticeship programme.
About the Employer: SBFM (Sustainable Business Facilities Management) is a facilities services provider. We deliver commercial cleaning, catering, security, and building maintenance. SBFM uses data-driven technology and sustainability practices to service offices, logistics sites, and corporate space.
What You'll Do:
- Operational Planning: Support the production of daily and forward schedules for Area Supervisors using the Company's planning platform (FLS VISITOUR). Learn how to optimise travel time, workload distribution and colleague utilisation across the field operation. Support the planning team in responding to day-to-day operational changes including sickness, emergencies, customer requests and business priorities. Develop an understanding of how planning decisions balance contractual priorities, colleague wellbeing and operational efficiency. Work alongside the Operations Planning Manager and Planning coordinator to ensure all business requirements are met by the field team. Assist with monitoring planning performance and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Central Operations Support: Support the mobilisation of new customer contracts through planning and operational coordination. Assist in producing operational reporting and performance analysis using Microsoft Excel. Support continuous improvement initiatives across Central Operations. Learn how planning software and technology support operational delivery, working alongside software suppliers where appropriate. Assist with maintaining operational procedures, documentation and best practice. Support the implementation of new technologies and operational processes as part of ongoing business improvements.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Build positive working relationships with the Operations Planning Manager, Regional Operations Managers, Area Supervisors, Account Managers and colleagues across the business. Support colleagues by responding promptly to operational requests appropriate to the role. Participate in team meetings, training sessions and apprenticeship learning activities. Demonstrate a willingness to learn, seek feedback and continually develop knowledge and skills. Support wider Central Operations activities as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Essential: GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in English and maths. Good organisational skills with strong attention to detail. A positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Comfortable using technology and learning new systems. Basic Microsoft Office skills. Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively within a team. A proactive, flexible approach to work.
- Desirable: A Levels, T Level, BTEC or equivalent qualification. Experience using Microsoft Excel.
Training Outcome: Potential full time position for the right candidate after completion of the apprenticeship.
