Company Description
Established in 2005, our clients vary from local house builders specialising in bespoke dwellings, to major regional residential developers. SBA Design is a small Architectural Practice with a proven track record assisting clients all over the country.
Our success relies on winning repeat business and that only happens because we have a great team. We are all house builder trained and work in a very efficient way. Due to the nature of the work, its very fastrack and the successful candidate will hopefully fit into this regime.
The candidate will gain extensive experience within the housing sector, particular with layout design and working drawings. They will be given the opportunity to visit site, attend meetings and liaise with various external consultants. Any further training required will be on project experience throughout their year with us.
Role Description
This is an internship office based role for an Architectural Assistant, located just outside Leicester Town Centre. The Architectural Assistant will help our existing team to prepare technical, working, architectural, and construction drawings. Day-to-day tasks include assisting in the development of design concepts, liaising with clients and contractors, and ensuring project specifications are met. The role also involves collaborating with other team members to bring projects to successful completion.
Your responsibilities will include:
· Amends to Group standard house type working drawings and assist in producing fully detailed
bespoke apartment blocks
· Assisting in preparing Site Technical layouts, based on inherited planning drawings and in turn conveyance plans for the developer’s legal team
· A sound knowledge of how a house/apartment block is put together would be beneficial to give you the best possible start here and we can develop that skillset throughout the year
· Assist our more senior members with their day to day workload, and in turn they will guide you using their experience gained
· We act as lead consultant, so you’ll be expected to assist with the liaison of external consultants and clients to bring together a fully co-ordinated scheme
Experience Required
· Proficient in using AutoCAD 2025
· Ability to produce planning & working drawings accurately & quickly.
· Knowledge of current Building Regulations is important, and a good understanding of Future Homes Standards would be an advantage.
· You will need to have an understanding of M4(2), M4(3) and NDSS requirements
· Some evidence that you have worked on residential schemes, working on both house and apartment drawings
