RAC Appretice Mobile Mechanic

The RAC, in partnership with S&B Automotive Academy, is offering Apprentice Mobile Mechanic opportunities across the UK within its National Service, Maintenance and Repair division.

This apprenticeship is designed to equip you with the practical skills, real-world experience, and nationally recognised qualification needed to build a long-term career in the automotive industry. You\’ll be trained to deliver expert vehicle servicing, repairs, and diagnostics directly to RAC customers—wherever they need you.

As an Apprentice Mobile Mechanic, you will:

• Complete vehicle servicing, diagnostics, repairs, and safety checks at customer locations, including homes and workplaces.
• Use diagnostic tools and equipment to support accurate fault finding.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, explaining work carried out.
• Manage daily job schedules, tools, and vehicle stock.
• Work under the guidance of an experienced RAC Team while developing independence in the role.

Training and Qualification:

You will undertake the Level 2 Autocare Technician Apprenticeship delivered by S&B Automotive Academy. Training includes structured block release sessions at S&B\’s Training Academy in Bristol combined with on-the-job learning. You will be supported throughout by the RAC Academy Team and Workplace Mentor and an S&B Development Coach. Progress is tracked using a digital eLogbook, and you will complete gateway assessments followed by an End-Point Assessment.

Pay and Working Hours:

Starting with an apprenticeship salary of £15,500 for the first year, then increasing to the National Living Wage in the second year.

This is a full-time apprenticeship with contracted hours typically averaging 40 hours per week. Rotas operate between 8:00am and 8:00pm, Monday to Saturday, to meet customer demand.
