S&B Automotive Academy are looking for a Heavy Vehicle / Bus and Coach tutor to engage in interactive training sessions for Apprentices in the commercial vehicle repair industry. We are one of the industry leaders in Automotive Apprentice Training and we are looking for a Technical Tutor to join our Training Academy on a full time, permanent basis.
Ideal candidates will have experience delivering training to apprentices or skilled professionals. We also welcome applications from experienced HV/B&C Technicians eager to transition into training and support the next generation of industry technicians.
Your responsibilities as an Automotive Technical Tutor will involve:
- Delivering training of the highest standards in vehicle repair to S&B’s apprentices, ensuring each apprentice is supported in the development of skills and behaviours and provided every opportunity to achieve a successful outcome.
- To deliver practical and theory training for groups of HV/B&C Apprentices.
- Providing fair assessments against prescribed criteria.
- Maintain and complete programme documentation promptly.
- Ensure that learner outcomes are aligned to the awarding body standard.
- Supporting the management and development of training materials, ensuring that all courses have clear and precise schemes of work, lesson plans, objectives and outcomes.
- To embed inclusive practices to ensure all learners have the opportunity to succeed.
Your skills and qualifications as an Automotive Technical Tutor will include:
- Essential: Strong background as an HV/B&C Technician in the automotive industry.
- Minimum Level 3 NVQ/ATA or a similar recognised qualification.
- Desirable: Knowledge of high voltage (HV/B&C) vehicles and vehicles electrical systems including ADAS.
- Experience of delivering training to apprentices or skilled professionals.
- Level 3 qualification in Education and Teaching or equivalent.
- Proven ability to develop the knowledge and competence of others to a Level 3 standard and beyond.
- The ability to develop training plans and schemes of work to meet desired outcomes.
- A good understanding of the new Ofsted Framework for FE Practice.
We are looking for a candidate to join us from September 2026 in a permanent, year-round role with annual leave included. Screenings would be w/c 20/07/26. 20 days annual leave, PLUS all bank holidays.
