Overview
As a Bus and Coach Technician apprentice, you will inspect, diagnose, repair and test equipment and systems on buses and coaches. If you are a can-do, enthusiastic and motivated individual who works well as a team player, this will be a great opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Understand the fundamentals of existing and emerging mechanical vehicle design and systems
- Carry out routine mechanical servicing, planned preventative maintenance and health checks
- Inspect, diagnose and repair braking systems
- Use diagnostic equipment and software to diagnose and rectify faults on mechanical components
- Work on a range of buses and coaches while learning to meet a nationally recognised standard
Apprenticeship details
- Training delivered via weekly block releases at S&B; learning also takes place in the workplace
- S&B Development Coach and Workplace Mentor allocated to support progression and workload management
- Qualification: Level 3 Bus and Coach Technician standard
- Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English (if not exempt or opted out); GCSE English and Maths (grades English 3, Maths 3) or equivalent; predicated grades accepted; work experience beneficial but not essential
- Duration: 3 years; Start date: 21 October 2025; Hours: 40 hours per week, 08:00–16:00

- GCSEs/Functional Skills or Key Skills at grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)
- Other qualifications and industry experience welcome; the apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect existing knowledge

Compensation
