Are you an HGV or Bus Technician who is looking for new direction with your career? We are seeking a dedicated Trainer who is passionate about the motor industry to join our team. Experience in training is not essential so don't let that put you off of applying. We need enthusiastic technicians who would really like to share their knowledge with apprentices and other technicians. You will be supporting their professional development and contributing to the success of our clients organisation. S&B Automotive Academy is a specialist provider of apprenticeships in the automotive sector. Operating nationally, each year we deliver the national apprenticeship programmes for manufacture and independent motor businesses. We have an excellent opportunity for you to train the technicians of the future. You will be responsible for their training delivery and recording of their progress. If you don't have any previous teaching experience don't let that put you off, we need people that are passionate about the motor industry.

Role Purpose

Your primary responsibility will be to deliver practical and theoretical training programmes. This will involve ensuring apprentices and technicians meet required standards and achieve their qualifications. As part of this role, you will be working within a structured and supportive team environment, delivering training either at our clients Wigan depot.

Key Responsibilities

  • Training Delivery: Plan, organise, and deliver engaging and practical training sessions tailored to the needs of apprentices and staff. Create and maintain up-to-date teaching resources, schemes of work, and lesson plans. Provide recurrent training for existing staff, ensuring alignment with company standards and operational requirements.
  • Assessment and Support: Develop high-quality assessment materials and provide robust feedback to learners. Track and support apprentices' progress, addressing any barriers to success. Work closely with the Functional Skills team to ensure learners are progressing in Maths and English. Regularly liaise with mentors and work placement managers to monitor apprentice performance and align their learning activities with workplace expectations.
  • Record Keeping and Administration: Maintain accurate training and assessment records in line with external audit requirements. Monitor and document 20% off-the-job training records to meet apprenticeship guidelines. Ensure all reviews are completed every 10 weeks with apprentices and their mentors. Support internal verification processes to uphold the quality of qualifications awarded.
  • Health, Safety, and Equality: Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Safeguarding, and Equality policies, embedding these principles into all aspects of training delivery. Create a training environment free from discrimination, promoting inclusivity and respect. Act as a point of guidance for learners requiring additional welfare or learning support.
