The successful candidate will have a good working knowledge of hazardous waste disposal and associated regulatory requirements and experience of creating and implementing sustainable waste reduction initiatives. They will also actively participate in formulating and implementing team goals which are aligned with those of the company. Our client is a chemical manufacturer, based in Bradford, just off Junction 26 of the M62. Job Purpose SHE & Behaviour: Perceived as a role model for SHE compliance. Technical skills: Can demonstrate technical capability and detailed knowledge of site waste streams, as well as knowledge of regulatory requirements related to Environmental Agency and Hazardous Waste directives. Key Accountabilities Ensures HSE adherence and compliance within areas of influence. Promotes ‘safety first’ culture. Management of the inventory of waste, including arranging waste collections and working with the Effluent Treatment Manager to process wastes that can be treated via the site Effluent Treatment Plant. Manage all supplier waste purchase orders on Ariba Purchasing System. Provide accurate and timely waste data to Operations Leader to support generation of waste budget. Responsible for the continued updating and record keeping of all waste transfer records to satisfy all applicable regulations. Maintain the site’s ISO 14001 accreditation and provide information at a Regional and Corporate level for company’s sustainability reporting responsibilities Providing training for Operations staff on use of the company’s waste management system. Drive continuous improvement within waste related systems and processes Reviewing potential to remove/reduce volumes of waste at source – Company target of 20% hazardous waste reduction. Carry out waste supplier site audits as part of Company’s Duty of Care responsibilities Review company’s Pollution Inventory on an annual basis to determine whether better environmental outcomes can be found for waste streams to satisfy company’s responsibility to apply the waste hierarchy Assist in long term strategic planning for significant increases in waste volumes in line with company expansion plans Responsibilities will include the requirement to ensure no hazardous waste is stored on site for longer than 12 months (prevention of legacy waste accumulation) Key Competencies Communicate Effectively Drives Vision & Purpose Instils Trust Cultivates Innovation and sustainability awareness Strategic Mindset Quality Decision Making Action Oriented Customer Focus Ensures Accountability Drives Results Remuneration & Benefits Salary – Up to £50k dependant on experience 28 days holiday plus bank holidays Pension: for every 1% employee contribution, is matched by 1.25% employer contribution.
