A Head of Design – Interior Planting is required to lead and grow the design function of our specialist client in Leeds. This is a permanent role with a highly successful, ethical and flourishing company. Our client specialises in transforming indoor environments with innovative planting solutions, including green walls, living planting, planted ceilings, and unique planted furniture. Offering comprehensive services, from design consultation and on-site installation to ongoing maintenance of plantscapes.
This is a senior opportunity for someone who can combine creative leadership with commercial thinking, shaping exceptional interior planting concepts that help win new business and deliver real impact for clients. Working closely with the Client Relations Director, you’ll lead the design team, develop compelling proposals, present ideas with confidence, and play a key role in converting opportunities into successful projects.

What you’ll be doing
- You’ll lead and develop the interior planting design function, managing and inspiring the team while maintaining high design standards, consistent output and efficient ways of working.
- You’ll play a key role in driving commercial growth by developing compelling proposals, supporting high-value opportunities, presenting ideas confidently to clients and ensuring quotations are commercially sound.
- You’ll also build strong relationships across clients, suppliers and internal teams, support the brand through marketing content and industry representation, and help strengthen the wider business through innovation, collaboration and operational excellence.
What we’re looking for
Essential
- Significant experience in interior design, ideally within commercial or workplace environments
- Experience leading or managing a design team
- Strong creative and technical design capability
- Experience producing commercial proposals and costings
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience presenting design concepts to clients
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of how design supports winning work
Desirable
- Knowledge or experience in horticulture or interior planting
- Experience working in a design-led commercial environment
- Knowledge of using a CRM system daily e.g. HubSpot, Pipedrive or similar (training can be provided)
