Sayjo Recruitment Ltd are actively recruiting on behalf of a client for a full-time, permanent position to join a great team based near Leeds, just off M62 Junction 28 or M1 Junction 40. Our client provides a full turnkey engineering service, from concept and design through to manufacture, installation and ongoing support. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Tekla Draughtsperson to join their Design team.
This role is suited to a strong intermediate or senior Tekla detailer with solid experience in structural and secondary steelwork. You will be responsible for producing high-quality Tekla models and detailed fabrication and erection drawings, working closely with clients, the design team, and the shop floor to support successful project delivery. The level of responsibility, autonomy, and project ownership will be aligned to your experience.
Core Responsibilities (for all levels)- Create and develop accurate Tekla Structures models for fabricated steel and secondary steelwork
- Produce fabrication, erection and general arrangement drawings to project requirements
- Familiarity with producing material take-offs, CAM data or CNC export files
- Liaise with production, site teams, engineers and architects to ensure drawings are buildable
- Ensure models and deliverables meet client and project specifications, quality standards
- Support project delivery by meeting deadlines and communicating progress
- Execute assigned modelling and drafting work
- Identify issues or missing information and elevate appropriately
- Apply company standards and practices consistently
- Work with design team on complex tasks
- Help troubleshoot routine modelling challenges
- Lead on technical approach for assigned packages or small projects
- Provide technical judgment on connection detailing and sequencing
- Review and check models and drawings
- Drive improvements in modelling standards and workflows
- Mentor / coach less experienced team members
- Liaise more directly with clients on technical queries
- Proven experience using Tekla Structures in a structural / steelwork environment
- Strong understanding of UK steel fabrication, connections and erection principles
- Good communication skills — able to work with team, engineers, fabricators and site
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines
- Proactive problem-solver
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience with checking / reviewing others’ work (senior)
- Exposure to steelwork standards and detailing conventions (e.g., codes, specifications)
- Previous experience mentoring or supervising colleagues
- Experience of scanning on site
- Experience of site measuring
Salary dependant on experience – competitive. Holidays start at 25 days plus stats, increasing over 3 years to reach 28 days plus stats. Pension – employer contribution 6% Westfield Heath.
