Our client is a global banking group with offices based in the City. They are looking to hire an Operational Resilience Manager on a permanent basis.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Keeping Operational Resilience Policy up to date
- Acting as secretary for monthly Operational Resilience Committee meeting
- Devising and running Operational Resilience Scenarios throughout the year
- Conducting Lessons learnt exercises in the aftermath of Operational Resilience Incidents.
- Using analytical skills to identify and raise Operational Resilience Vulnerabilities as they come to light and track them to resolution.
- Carrying out Operational Resilience Self Assessments in line with regulatory requirements at least annually, and in the event of major changes to operating model; including:
- Working with Important Business Service Owners and other stakeholders to define and map Important Business Services and Set Impact Tolerances
- Collating Scenario data and Lessons Learned for the previous year
- Carry out analysis work, report on vulnerabilities and efforts to close them out
- Present Operational Resilience Self Assessments to the Board and provide interim updates to the Board on Operational Resilience and related areas as required.
- Be responsible for building awareness and understanding of Operational Resilience across the firm, leading communications and training campaigns at all levels.
- Work with stakeholders across the business to update Business Continuity Plan on an annual basis
- Carry out Business Continuity testing at minimum twice a year
- Report findings through Operational Resilience Committee.
- Work with stakeholders across the business to update Crisis Communications Framework on an annual basis
- Test the Crisis Communications Framework at least once a year
- Report findings through Operational Resilience Committee.
- Work with the Vendor Management function to ensure that our Procurement, Vendor Management & Outsourcing Policy and Procedure cover Operational Resilience and related requirements, as set out in SS1/21, SS2/21 and elsewhere.
- Help Relationship Owners of individual vendors to assess vendor criticality, carry out fallbacks and exit plan questionnaires and collated resilience‑related paperwork as necessary
- Support in managing the Vendor Management Framework of the Bank
- Keep up to date with regulatory changes and industry best practice with regards to Operational Resilience and related areas
- Ensure policies and procedures are kept up to date, and any necessary training provided to cover such changes.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Detailed knowledge of the Operational Resilience papers including SS1/21 and SYSC15A.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Operational Risk, Operational Resilience and Business Continuity tools, methodologies and best practice.
- Use project management experience and knowledge to drive focus on effective and timely delivery of activities, managing the critical path and reporting regularly on status of deliverables.
- Experience delivering regulatory change and transformation initiatives.
- Ability to identify and resolve risks and issues, or prompt escalation to programme manager if they are not able to be resolved
- Functional / domain background and experience in retail and / or commercial banking
- Prior experience of working for a consulting firm or in financial services industry/banking
- Budget management (experience managing various engagement models, e.g. fixed price, fixed capacity, T&M etc – particularly fixed price management)
