Occupational Health & Safety Lead £60,000- £65,000 per annum (dependant on experience) 37 hours per week | Horsham / Hybrid Working At Saxon Weald, we believe everyone deserves a safe place to live and work. As our Occupational Health & Safety Lead, you'll play a key role in helping us achieve this by providing expert leadership and direction on all aspects of occupational health and safety across the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced health and safety professional to lead Saxon Weald's Occupational Health & Safety function, acting as the organisation's recognised expert and driving how health and safety is embedded across every area of the business. Working closely with leaders, managers and colleagues, you'll ensure health and safety is not viewed as a compliance exercise, but as a shared responsibility and an integral part of how we work. What you'll be doing As the organisation's lead Occupational Health & Safety professional, you'll provide strategic leadership, expert advice and assurance across Saxon Weald. You'll also: Lead and continually develop Saxon Weald's Occupational Health & Safety framework, ensuring policies, procedures and standards are embedded across the organisation. Act as the organisation's subject matter expert on Occupational Health & Safety, providing professional advice and assurance to colleagues, managers, the Executive Team and Board. Work closely with leaders to strengthen accountability for health and safety, embedding a proactive culture where managing risk is everyone's responsibility. Lead the organisation's approach to occupational health risks, health surveillance and workplace safety, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Provide assurance through audits, inspections, investigations, reporting and performance analysis, using insight to drive continuous improvement. Lead, support and develop the Occupational Health & Safety team, building capability and delivering a high-quality service. What were looking for We're looking for someone who: Has substantial experience leading an Occupational Health & Safety function across multiple business areas, providing strategic direction, assurance and expert guidance. Has successfully developed and embedded health and safety strategies, frameworks, policies and management systems. Can provide credible recommendations, influence decision-making and constructively challenge senior leaders, executive teams and boards. Has experience driving positive health and safety culture change and increasing accountability across an organisation. Has led audits, inspections, investigations and assurance activities, translating data and findings into meaningful insight, reports and recommendations that improve organisational performance. Can translate health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements into practical, proportionate and effective solutions. Brings strong operational line management experience, including setting priorities, managing performance, supporting colleague wellbeing, and developing individuals to achieve their full potential. Has a NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 Occupational Health & Safety qualification) and experience implementing, maintaining and auditing against ISO 45001 or a comparable Occupational Health & Safety management system.
