We're delighted to be supporting SaxaVord Spaceport in the appointment of a Launch Site Electrician. This is a rare opportunity to join one of the UK's most innovative engineering environments, supporting the development, maintenance and safe operation of electrical systems across the spaceport and associated facilities. You'll play a key role in ensuring the reliability of launch infrastructure, ground support systems and power distribution networks in a mission-critical setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, test, commission and maintain electrical infrastructure.
- Carry out fault finding and repairs to ensure operational readiness.
- Support preventative maintenance programmes.
- Provide electrical support during launch operations and critical activities.
- Assist with power distribution, backup systems and launchpad electrical interfaces.
- Interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical specifications.
- Ensure compliance with electrical and safety standards.
- Support testing, commissioning and continuous improvement projects.
- Collaborate with internal teams, contractors and launch partners.
About You
- Qualified Electrician with experience in industrial, infrastructure or safety-critical environments.
- ECS Gold Card.
- Experience with commercial and domestic electrical installations.
- Confident working on single and three-phase electrical systems.
- Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA systems or automation is advantageous.
- Strong fault-finding, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Willing to undertake security clearance as required.
Desirable
- Experience within aerospace, defence, energy or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and integrated management systems.
- Experience working in remote environments or challenging logistics locations.
- Knowledge of Shetland and local logistics.
