The Role

An ambitious, motivated, and experienced New Business Researcher is required to take ownership of identifying, validating, and launching new and inspirational events across a growing events portfolio. The role focuses on identifying and capitalising on growth opportunities, developing commercially viable events, and building engaged, passionate communities around them. The role demands excellent people and project management skills, first-class topic generation, proven research ability, and strong time management. While in-depth sector knowledge is not essential, attention to detail, enthusiasm, and tenacity are critical to unlocking the full potential of new markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Devise and implement effective research plans to identify key market trends and create commercially viable, sustainable events.
  • Conduct initial market scoping, including location and timeframe selection, primary and secondary research, and competitor analysis.
  • Deliver full market mapping by geography and sector to identify motivators that attract paying delegates and secure sponsors.
  • Conduct in-depth, in-person and virtual research with a minimum of 50 key industry professionals per event during stage one research, ensuring a balanced mix of buy-side and sell-side, genders, geographies, and functions.
  • Produce detailed competitor analysis (including timelines and SWOTs) across key geographies to define clear USPs and market positioning.
  • Develop compelling value propositions and USPs, including commercial features designed to expand audiences and differentiate the event.
  • Identify, invite, brief, and manage event Ambassadors who authentically represent target communities and maximise exposure across key channels.
  • Where possible, organise and lead in-person Ambassador meetings to help shape agenda and event direction.
  • Build strong relationships with advisory boards, sponsors, sales agents, speakers, and other advocates to support co-marketing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with marketing to create bespoke, visually engaging, and responsive marketing collateral.
  • Define target audiences and create content to engage, segment, and convert prospects through to event launch.
  • Work closely with marketing to position the event brand as a key social media influencer across relevant platforms.
  • Identify and develop partnerships with local and global media partners, associations, and industry influencers.
  • Champion a customer-centric culture, ensuring all promotion reflects audience needs and market dynamics.
  • Create comprehensive event P&Ls for Board review ahead of Go / No-Go decisions.
  • Oversee and deliver launch events, typically 12 months prior to the main event, including venue selection, speakers, audience, and supplier management.
  • Produce detailed handover briefs for delivery teams, ensuring clarity on strategy, KPIs, and key relationships.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 4-5 years’ experience in B2B, large-scale, content-led event production.
  • Proven experience delivering new launch events, ideally in international markets.
  • Academic degree or equivalent professional qualification.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
  • Clear understanding of production KPIs, with demonstrable examples.
  • Strong copywriting and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid commercial awareness, including profit and loss fundamentals and conference business models.
  • Experience working directly with sales teams on lead generation and management.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.

IT Skills

  • Experience using Sales CRM systems, Hubspot/Pipedrive or similar.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel capability.

About You

  • Confident, outgoing, and able to perform under pressure.
  • Highly organised, deadline-driven, and detail-oriented.
  • Willing and able to travel and occasionally work long hours.
  • Flexible, proactive, and solutions-focused.
  • Comfortable executing all aspects of the role personally, rather than delegating tasks.
