Please note- you must have previous experience using SQL for this role. We are seeking a commercially-minded Assistant Management Accountant with a passion for data and technology to join our Divisional finance team. This hybrid role involves supporting in the production of timely and accurate management accounts, whilst leveraging strong data analysis skills to assist the Divisional Finance Manager in providing data-driven commercial insights to key stakeholders. Although AAT or part CIMA/ACCA qualified would be an advantage, this is a fantastic opportunity for an individual early in their finance career who also possesses an aptitude and enthusiasm for data analysis and automation. This is a full time position based in Margaret Street, London, but supports a Division that is nationwide and may require some travel on occasion.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist the Divisional finance team with month-end procedures including reconciliation of fees/billing schedules, and preparation and posting of monthly journals
- Production of monthly management accounts and statistical reports
- Analysis of cost variances versus prior year and plan
- Assist production of Divisional forecasts
- Use SQL to extract, clean and manipulate large datasets from financial and operational systems, ensuring data quality and integrity under the guidance of the Finance Manager
- Use advanced Excel features to structure, analyse and present financial and operational data clearly
- Develop, automate and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within the finance function
- Become first point of contact for financial and data-related queries
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Previous experience of month end
- A strong interest in both accounting and data analytics
- Strong understanding of coding languages, particularly SQL
- Foundational knowledge of accounting principles through qualification or prior experience
- Advanced user of Microsoft packages, particularly Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and problem solving skills
- Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work to strict deadlines
- Strong communication skills, capable of articulating financial information to non-finance stakeholders
